BREAKING!!! Court Stops Kwara From Further Demolition Of Saraki’s Property

The Kwara State High Court in Ilorin has ordered the state government to suspend further demolition of late Olusola Saraki’s property.

The late Saraki’s property in Ilorin, popularly called ‘Ile Arugbo’, was demolished on January 2 and reclaimed by the state government which said a new secretariat would be constructed on the site.

The court, however, on Monday granted an ex-parte injunction restraining the government from further action.

The court also said the state government should not go near the land, “either to construct or do anything on the land pending the determination of the motion on notice.”

One of the family’s lawyers, Abdulazeez Ibrahim, said the order is yet to be served on the parties concerned “because the injunction was secured almost at the close of work on Monday.”

Kwara State Government confirmed on Monday night that it is yet to receive the order.

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki had said his family would contest the demolition.

Minister of State for Transportation, Gbemisola Saraki, has also criticised the government for the move.
