Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, says he will not be commenting on the video of a former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, dancing with a white woman on a cruise ship abroad, Igbere TV reports.
Igbere TV recalls that Mr Fayose was on December 6 granted permission for the second time by the Federal High Court in Lagos to travel abroad for medical treatment.
Critics, however, accuse him of deceiving the court by going for a vacation instead of medical treatment.
Mr Maguâs spokesperson, Tony Amokeodo, told newsmag on Thursday that the commission has no comments on the video because it is âprosecutingâ Fayose and not âpersecutingâ him.
âBesides, the court granted him permission to travel abroad for medical attention. We are of the opinion that the former governor would have to be in court and that his trial is on course. And we will definitely meet him on the next adjourned date,â Mr Amokeodo added.
Following the debate that surrounded the viral video, Fayose said he would continue to be his detractorsâ âheadacheâ if they do not ârepentâ in the New Year.
âOnce again, Happy New Year to everyone, particularly my haters politically or otherwise. How far can you go in your machinations? Definitely nowheređ Remember; âHe that is blessed of God cannot be cursed.â I will remain your headache in 2020 if you donât repent,â Fayose said.
The former governor is being tried on an 11-count charge of receiving and keeping N1.2 billion and $5 million stolen funds from the office of National Security Adviser (NSA) contrary to the Money Laundering Act.
