Court Orders Mohammed Adoke To Be Remanded In EFCC Custody For 14 Days

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Maitama, Abuja, has granted permission to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to detain a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke, for 14 days.

Adoke arrived Abuja on Thursday from Dubai and was immediately arrested by the Interpol before being handed over to the EFCC.

The anti-grant agency, represented by Fatima Mustapha, on Friday filed the ex-parte application for Adoke’s detention before Justice Othman Musa who granted it.

Justice Mustapha said the plan to hold the ex-AGF was to enable the commission to complete its investigations of allegations involving the suspect.

Adoke has since 2016 being charged with $1.1 billion Malabu Oil scam.

The former AGF spent five weeks with Dubai police after his arrest on November 11 before his return to Nigeria.
