Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State, Natasha Akpoti, has alleged that Governor Yahaya Bello has ordered her assassination.
Akpoti raised the alarm via a tweet on Monday as collation of results continues after elections on Saturday.
“🚨RED ALERT 🚨 Gov Yahaya Bello has ordered for my assassination,” she wrote.
Thugs suspected to be loyal to the governor attacked Akpoti on November 12 at the political stakeholders meeting organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lokoja ahead of elections in the state.
Akpoti filed a suit challenging Bello’s eligibility to contest in the November 16 governorship election.
Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, however, last Friday adjourned continuation of hearing on the suit till November 21.
Akpoti wants Bello disqualified for allegedly being involved in double registration as a voter.
