Oliseh Rejects Belgian Coaching Job

Former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has turned down an offer from Belgian Pro League, Waasland Beveren.

The 45-year-old rejected the offer because the financial terms were not suitable for him.

“I have to be patient and wait for the right opportunity and the right offer because what I got from a team currently one place above the relegation spot could be better.

“It’s quite good because it’s close to my family but the financial terms are not suitable for me,” he was quoted as saying.

The former Ajax, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund player has been out of management since he parted ways with the Netherlands club, Fortuna Sittard, in 2018.

The club said he was sacked for highhandedness while the former midfielder claimed it was because he refused to participate in some illegal activities.

He reportedly turned down an offer worth €3m annually with another €1m in bonuses to manage an unnamed Turkish second division club in September.

here were speculations earlier in the year that he was listed among those running to become coach of the Gabonese national team.

Oliseh left the Super Eagles job in 2016 shortly after the Championship of African Nations Cup (CHAN) in Rwanda, following a running battle with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
