The Federal High Court in Abuja has discharged the president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, and four other members of the board who were accused of fraud of $8.4 million and N4 billion.
The other members who were cleared of the charges alongside Mr Pinnick are NFF Secretary, Sunusi Mohammed; NFF 1st Vice-President, Seyi Akinwumi; 2nd Vice-President, Shehu Dikko; and an executive member, Yusuff Fresh.
Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu discharged them on Tuesday following withdrawal of the charges by the Federal Government represented in court by a counsel standing in the place of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF).
The Special Presidential Investigation Panel on Recovery of Public Property (SPIP) was the original institutor of the case before it was taken over by the AGF.
According to the AGF, there was no basis for the charges filed against Pinnick and others.
