A peace initiative instituted by the Sokoto State Government has led to 210 repentant bandits laying down their arms and releasing their victims.
The Commissioner for Careers and Security Matters, Sokoto State, Col. Garba Moyi (rtd) who confirmed this said they also recovered 102 arms from the repentant bandits they’ve been dialoguing with for a long time.
According to him, seven groups of bandits with about 30 members each surrendered after an agreement was reached.
“For now, nobody is with them, they have released more than 30 captives, including Nigeriens and those from other states like Zamfara and Kebbi” he said.
