Former Deputy Gov, Simon Achuba Finally Speaks After Impeachment

Former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Simon Achuba, has insisted that he remains the state’s deputy governor, describing the new deputy governor, Edward Onoja, as an impostor.

Mr Achuba said this on Wednesday during an appearance on Channels Television breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily.Mr Onoja, however, was sworn in on Monday following confirmation of his appointment by the house of assembly.Achuba was impeached last Friday on three grounds of criminal indulgence, financial misappropriation, and non-performance.

“The idea of being reinstated does not exist. I am the deputy governor and there’s no other one,” Achuba told his interviewers.

“Anybody who is parading himself as the deputy governor is completely an impostor and nothing more.

As far as the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is concerned that person must be an imposter and when law enforcement agents are effective, such person should have been arrested and kept in a dungeon for trial.”

He confirmed that he had filed a case in court against his removal.Onoja, however, said the legislative arm did its job in impeaching Achuba and that he was confident the removal would be backed by the court.“The matter is in court and we believe the judiciary will do justice to it,” he said.
