An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates Court, presided over by Mr Abdulhamid Lawal, on Wednesday remanded 29-year-old Adeyemi Feranmi in a correctional home over alleged identity theft and cyber fraud.
Lawal, thereafter, adjourned the case until Nov. 22 for mention.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, had pleaded not guilty.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Teramo Caleb said that the defendant committed the offence on Oct. 4 in Ado Ekiti.
Caleb said that the defendant, who operated a fake legal firm, acted as a lawyer to defraud Buhari Temitope of N2 million.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Sections 22 and 14 of the Cyber Crime (Prohibition Prevention) Act 2015.
