PDP Rejects 2020 Budget, Calls For A Review

The PDP on Tuesday rejected the 2020 budget presented by President Muhammadu Buhari, Igberetv reports.

President Buhari presented to the joint session of the National Assembly a budget of N10.7trn.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan says the budget presentation was not acceptable to the PDP and Nigeria in general as it does not address the needs of the common man. He said:
“The core of the budget remains hazy, showing streaks of padding, duplication, replete with false performance indices, deceptive projections and inexplicable expenditure assertions,”.

He said, “The budget is skewed to serve the interest of the opulent, as projects that have direct bearing on the well being of the masses were not substantially accommodated in the overall expenditure profile,”

Mr Kola Ologbondiyan also made mention of the alleged diversion of public funds by the Ministries of Works and Housing as well as Transportation in the last budget, which were not taken cognizance of in this new budget.

He further said: “Standing with millions of Nigerian youths and women, our party rejects the paltry budgets of N48bn for education and N46bn for health; and urges the National Assembly to review the allocations in the interest of Nigerians.”
