Kidnappers Of Kaduna Schoolgirls Demand Ransom

Governor Nasir El-Rufai says the gunmen who kidnapped six female students and two staff members from their hostels at the Engravers College in Kaduna state yesterday October 3rd, have made a ransom demand.

Briefing newsmen on efforts being made to rescue the abducted students, the governor who spoke to journalists in Abuja today, said the suspects have made contacts with parents of the abducted students demanding ransom for the release of their wards.

“They have made a demand for money and that is being negotiated,” the governor said.

A mother of one of the kidnapped pupils says her daughter called her earlier today with a strange number, weeping and pleading for her to do all within her power to rescue her.

“My daughter called me early Friday morning on a phone number I didn’t know. She was crying and sounded frightened.” the distraught mother told newsmen.

The state police command says it is working to ensure the safe return of the pupils.
