Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has suspended the principal of Oginigba Community Secondary School, Oginigba over the collection of illegal levies.
Permanent Secretary, Rivers State Ministry of Education, Adonye Dagogo-Hart, said on Wednesday that Mr Wike had also released funds for the supervision of schools for the entire 2019/2020 academic session.
The governor vowed to sack any school head caught collecting illegal fees and levies.
The funds released are to be used by the schools to buy registers, chalks, dusters, markers, notebooks, pens and other consumables.
Mr Dagogo-Hart said Wike also released six Hilux vans for school supervision.
He said that the suspension of the principal was to serve as a deterrent to other school administrators.
