Governor Wike Lifts Recruitment Embargo On Rivers Varsity

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has lifted a recruitment embargo placed on the Rivers State University in August.

Wike made the announcement while commissioning the Students Union building on Monday at the institution.

The governor expressed satisfaction with the committee’s report and directed the management to proceed with the recruitment exercise of academic and non-academic staff.

The exercise was suspended due to perceived irregularities and increased cult activities which ultimately led to the sack of Vice-Chancellor Blessing Didia.

“I am satisfied with the committee’s report. Therefore, I have informed the Pro-Chancellor to go ahead with the employment exercise.

The process of the employment exercise was suspended due to the issues that emanated from it. The committee set up to investigate the process has turned in its report,” Wike said.

He also said that unlike other leaders he has never interfered with admission and employment processes of any institution in the state.
