Dino Melaye in a statement made available to Igbere TV revealed that the Senate must write a strongly worded letter to the EU ambassadors, United Nations, African Union and Ecowas drawing attention to the on going assault.

The statement reads,

“The Senate must write a strongly worded letter to the EU ambassadors, United Nations, African Union and Ecowas drawing attention to the on going assault on the constitution and its vital Institutions and emphasizing that these infractions amount to rigging.”

“In essence the rigging and manipulation of the elections has commenced in earnest.”

“Rigging is not just about ballot snatching votes buying and manipulation. The intimidation and arrest of opposition members, trump up charges and detention amounts to rigging.”

“The opposition will therefore not recognize or accept the outcome of any election in the light of this infractions.
It should be noted that the on going brazen criminality on the part of this government can only breed socio political instability and tensions that may escalate to something unimaginable with far reaching consequences which may involve humanitarian catastrophes. This will no doubt have serious consequences on the west Africa sub region in particular and the world at large.”

“This may further necessitate the forming of an alternate government if the transparency and fairness of the election is in doubt and not beyond reproach. The Senate must stand up and defend Democracy and Nigerians. We must not let Nigeria die. The time to stand and be counted on the path of honour is Now. We must as Distinguished people not to allow religion, political and ethnic affiliations determine where we stand. Every Nigerian must therefore decide to either walk in the light of creative altruism or we perish in the darkness selfish interest and hegemony. In an unjust society silence is a crime. Nigerian Senate this is a clarion call. Arise ‘O Compatriots, Nigeria call obey!!!!! God bless Nigeria, “he said.
