A man was beaten to pulp in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital, after being descended upon by angry youths for stealing and raping women. The unnamed suspected rapist, who was apprehended by youths of Afaha Ube, is said to be a member of a 10-man gang that has been terrorizing the community, according to reports.
It was reported that members of the gang have raped five women, stolen over 10 Television sets and many phones including large amounts of money.
The suspect who was left in coma – was later taken to a nearby hospital by the police.
