The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Kabiru Rurum, has resigned.
Rurum’s resignation comes amid allegations, that he collected N100million to end the investigation of the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.
His resignation was confirmed in a letter read at plenary by the Deputy Speaker, Ibrahim Chidariof, on Monday.
The Majority Leader of the Assembly, Abdullahi Atta, has been elected the new Speaker.
The House had moved to investigate the Emir Sanusi for alleged corruption, but later backed down.
Kano’s anti-corruption agency also suspended its investigation of the monarch, after prominent Nigerians including Acting President, Osinbajo, intervened.
