Biafra Lawyer Files Suits Against Nigerian Govt For Injustice Against Igbo Region, Demands N1trn Compensation For Igbo, Biafra Group Reacts

– Agbakoba files suits against Nigeria government demands  N1trn compensation for Igbo

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra has disagreed with constitutional lawyer, Mr. Olisa Agbakoba, for demanding N1trn and two more states for the South-East geo-political zone from the Federal Government.

The pro-Biafra group said Agbakoba was on his own, adding that it was not interested in any compensation from the Federal Government over alleged years of discrimination against Ndigbo.

Agbakoba had filed a N1trn fundamental human right suit against the Federal Government on behalf of the South-East geo-political zone over purported underdevelopment and discrimination against the zone.

The former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, had among other demands, asked for two more states in the South-East zone to correct an imbalance where the North-West has seven states with others enjoying six states except the eastern part of the country with five states.

But MASSOB National Director of Information, Sunday Okereafor, said the Igbo were not interested in the demands.

Okereafor, who spoke on Saturday in a telephone chat with SUNDAY PUNCH, explained that MASSOB was only interested in freedom and not compensation.

He pointed out that N1trn and two more states for the South-East would not bring back the Igbo killed in the past.

Okereafor insisted that two more states would not change the pro-Biafra group’s demand for a sovereign state of Biafra.

“Is N1trn and two more states for the South-East geo-political zone more than millions of Ndigbo that died during the civil war? Would it resolve the killing of Ndigbo?

“What we want is Biafra or nothing. He (Agbakoba) is on his own. MASSOB is saying he is on his own. You can see the people who call themselves Igbo leaders. Negotiating with Federal Government for N1trn is senseless,” Okereafor said.

He further said that the allocation of five states to the South-East when others got more than that was a ploy by the Federal Government to portray Ndigbo as minority.

He added, “Our demand is freedom. Igbo people are the highest in population in Nigeria, but they gave us only five states in order to portray us as minority.”
