PDP worries on Wike’s security

The Rivers State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Felix Obuah, is worries over the complaint by Governor Nyesom Wike that his security has been withdrawn by the Commissioner of Police.
The PDP chieftain, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam, condemned the action of the Commissioner, adding that the development was a source of concern to Rivers people.
He said it has clearly showed the desperation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to rig the December 10 re-run in the state.
He said the PDP was worried by the confession by the defeated candidate of APC, Dakuku Peterside, he had discussions with security chiefs and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the re-run polls.
Obuah said the confession, which was openly made by Peterside in a radio programme in Port Harcourt, confirmed the fears of the people that Abuja was desperate to foist the APC on Rivers people at all cost.
He said: “The unguarded remarks of Peterside who boasted that he had already concluded discussions with security chiefs and officers of INEC on the December 10 re-run election coming few hours after the withdrawal of majority of policemen attached to Governor Wike may not be a coincidence.”
He said the party would not allow the revelation to be swept under the carpet, urging security agencies to investigate the confession as its consequences are capable of threatening the December 10 poll.
Obuah urged security agencies to be apolitical during the December 10, re-run election, to promote peace and restore the confidence of the people.
