Igbere TV Congratulates Gov. Ugwuanyi For Defeating COVID-19 In Enugu

Popular online medium Igbere TV, has joined the people of Enugu and Nigerians all over the world, in congratulating Governor Ifeanyi Ugwanyi for defeating the dreaded Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the state.

Enugu, a southeastern state, had on Thursday discharged the second and only remaining COVID-19 patient in its Isolation Centre after testing negative, making the state pandemic-free.

In a statement issued to journalists on Friday in Uyo, Executive Director of Igbere TV, Emeh James Anyalekwa, congratulated Ugwanyi for being the first Nigerian governor to defeat the disease completely.

“I congratulate his Excellency, Rt. Hon. Governor Ifeanyi Ugwanyi and the Enugu COVID-19 Response Team for the energetic, resilient and professional outing that saw them defeat Coronavirus in the state”, he said.

Anyalekwa, who doubles as National President of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN), also commended medical professionals in the state for their commitment in ensuring Enugu conquered the disease against all odds.

He, however, urged the people of Enugu to continue to obey the stay at home directives, maintain personal hygiene, wear face masks, maintain social distancing and observe all other precautionary measures against the COVID-19.

“We count it all joy that COVID-19 is completely defeated in Enugu, the first in Nigeria’s history. While celebrating, however, we urge the people to continue to observe all precautionary measures put in place by the Enugu state government.”

The Igbere TV boss, therefore, urged the government of Enugu, medical professionals handling COVID-19 cases and the state response team, to remain focused, dedicated, committed and ensure that they sustain the victory.

“We are praying for them, knowing that the taste of victory is sweet and what they have achieved so far is pleasing to Nigerians irrespective of ethnic, religious or political inclination”, Anyalekwa added.
