Buhari Presides Over Weekly FEC Meeting (Photos)

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 presided over the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

This comes less than 24 hours after the nation’s Independence Day Anniversary, which saw Nigeria clock 59 after it regained freedom from her colonial masters. 

Our State House correspondent reports that today’s FEC meeting started around 11.a.m. at the Council chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

At the meeting were the Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, and Acting Head of Service of the Federation, Dr (Mrs) Folasade Yemi-Esan.

Some Ministers of the Federation, who also make up the President’s cabinet were in attendance. Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyema, was however, absent. Igbere TV gathered that he is currently on a national assignment in Pretoria, South Africa.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to depart Nigeria any moment from now for South Africa on a three-day state visit.

Buhari’s spokesman, Garba Shehu in a statement obtained by Igbere TV said the visit was at the instance of President Cyril Ramaphosa to discuss the welfare of Nigerians, and enhance the relations between both countries.

Shehu said during his visit, Buhari will hold a town hall meeting with Nigerians in South Africa to reassure them of government’s commitment to in protecting their lives and property amidst xenophobic scare.
