Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Sunday Akin Dare, on Monday, arrived the city of Ilorin, Kwara State capital, for the National Youth Games festival, Igbere TV reports.
Igbere TV learned that the 5th edition of the annual festival with over 34 sports, is taking place at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) Sports Centre, in Kwara State.
The festival, Igbere TV reliably gathered, is organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Abuja, and over 4,000 children ages 15 and below are participating.
Taking to Twitter to announce his arrival, the Sports Minister in a tweet sighted by Igbere TV, Monday night, wrote;
“I arrived Ilorin this evening for the 5th National Youth Games organized by the Youth and Sports Ministry. Over 4,000 children ages 15 and below. 34 sports. One venue. At the University of Ilorin Sports Complex today, I saw the next generation of sporting stars shining.”
Earlier, the Minister, inspected the ongoing construction of the secretariat of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) in Jabi area of Abuja.
Igbere TV reports that ANOCA is the national and decision making body that unites the 54 National Olympic Committees of Africa.
The Minister pledged that the Ministry of Youth and Sports under him, was committed to completing and delivering on the project.
