Abia Speaker, Ikuku Leads Lawmakers on Tour of Ongoing House Renovation Ahead of Resumption (Photos)

Ahead of the resumption of the Abia State House of Assembly billed for Monday, 23rd of September, 2019, the Speaker, Rt.Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, today led some lawmakers to inspect the extensive ongoing renovation of the Assembly.

Recall that the House of Assembly had on July 16 adjourned Plenary to 23rd of September, 2019, to observe the annual legislative recess.

The renovation of the Chambers of the Abia State House of Assembly which is already at the finishing stages was necessitated by the need to replace decaying facilities and also to give it an ultramodern ambience suitable for optimum productivity of both Honourable Members and staff of the legislative arm of government as envisioned by Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji as Speaker.

The lawmakers during the inspection appreciated the Speaker for being a true leader by giving the Chambers of the State House of Assembly a 21st Century touch.

A critical look at the work so far shows that the Chambers now has 88 numbers of 18 watts LED lights, steel rails adorning the staircases,, functional toilets, POP ceilings with the walls expertly screeded. Also, the rugs inside the Chambers have been changed from green to red in line with what is obtainable in other Houses of Assembly and differentiate it from Legislative Houses at the Local Government level.

The lawmaker representing Umuahia North State Constituency, Hon. Kelechi Onuzuruike, the lawmaker representing Osisioma Ngwa South, Hon. Nnamdi Allen, the Minority Leader of the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Abraham Oba, the Honourable member for Aba South State Constituency, Hon Obinna Ichita, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Abia State, Barr. Uche Ihediwa, Clerk of the Abia State House of Assembly and Sir John Pedro Irokansi, were all part of the team that joined the Speaker for the inspection.
