Anambra Government To Train 100 Pilots, Flight Engineers

The Government of Anambra State says the administration of Governor Willie Obiano will train 100 pilots and flight engineers across the state in the next few years, Igbere TV reports.

The state government says it has already established a scholarship scheme to cater for the aforementioned, and all other aviation professionals to increase the state’s presence in the aviation industry.

These were contained in a statement made available to Igbere TV on Thursday, which was signed by Mr C-Don Adinuba, Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment.

He said the approval of the scheme followed a proposal by Chairman of Girls Can Fly Initiative, Mrs Obiagelu Ikejiaku-Adelana, who is also the first female pilot from Anambra State.

The Commissioner said Governor Obiano had set up a committee to ensure successful implementation of the scheme.

Igbere TV gathered that the Committee has Air Vice-Marshall Ben Chiobi, a retired Nigerian Air Force Pilot who is also the Special Adviser to the State Government on Creative Security, as chairman.

Members of the committee include the Commissioner for Creative Economy and Youth Development, Mr Afam Mbanefo; the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Theresa Obiekezie; and the Commissioner for Basic Education, Prof. Kate Omenugha.
