Spain’s Supreme Court on Tuesday withdrew a European arrest warrant for Catalonia’s ousted separatist leader, Carles Puigdemont, and four of his former ministers.
The politicians were behind a drive for independence that culminated in the central government dissolving their regional administration and charging them with rebellion and sedition.
They absconded to Belgium in late October.
Judge Pablo Llarena was quoted by Spanish media as saying that the five Catalans had shown a willingness to return to Spain ahead of fresh elections in the region later this month.(dpa/NAN)
