Gov. Udom Emmanuel Visits Sen. Ekpeyong Over Wife’s Demise (Photos)

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, has commiserated with Senator Chris Ekpeyong over the demise of his lovely wife, Dr. Grace Ekpenyong, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV had reported the news of the demise of wife of Ekpenyong representing Akwa Ibom North West in the Senate. She was said to have passed on in Uyo, last week Friday.

The son, Mr. Emmanuel, confirmed the incident to our correspondent, Monday morning. “It’s a sad reality we must have to accept,” Mr Emmanuel said.

Ekpenyong, a former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, won the 2019 National Assembly election against Senator Godswill Akpabio.

Speaking during the visit, Governor Emmanuel said the news of the demise of Late Mrs Grace Ekpenyong came as a rude shock to him, his family and the state government.

He urged the family, especially the bereaved husband, to be consoled by the fact that God who created her knew that a moment like this would come.

According to the Governor, there is no best moment to lose a loved one.

He, therefore, prayed God to comfort the family and to grant the deceased eternal rest in His bosom.

Responding, Senator Chris Ekpenyong thanked the Governor and his entourage for identifying with him in his grief, describing the wife as a daughter of Zion and committed Servant of God as well as his pillar of strength.

He thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for the support given her when she needed to receive medical attention both at home and abroad.

Senator Ekpenyong said that his late wife was an ardent supporter of the Governor and the PDP and when he aspired for the Senatorial seat she gave him her blessings.

He recalled fond memories (of her) and said that he will greatly miss her companionship and wise counsel.

He also appealed to the state government to stand by him and the family to give his departed wife a befitting burial.

Igbere TV reports that prayers were offered for the family of the deceased and for God to grant her soul eternal rest.

Governor Emmanuel was accompanied on the condolence visit by the Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo; Director-General, Divine Mandate, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga; National Legal Officer of the PDP, Barister Emmanuel Enoidem, and some PDP elders in the state.

Others in the entourage were Senator Anietie Okon, the Secretary to the State government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem; Chief Nduese Essien, Obonganwan Grace Ekong, Dr Udoma Ekarika, Dr Etido Ibekwe, Elder Aniekan Umanah, Otuekong Patrick Ifon, some members of the State Executive Council and political stalwarts.
