Prophet Olu Adekola, popularly referred to as Ayenbumose, is the founder of Holy Michael C&S Church, Alakia, Isebo, Ibadan, Oyo State. Known for his fierce prophetic messages, he shares with SEGUN ADEBAYO God’s plan for the people ahead of 2019 elections.
HOW would you assess the present federal administration’s performance?
I once said that Nigerians will rejoice after recession, and that is never going to change. That was what God told me before we were plunged into recession. Now, that we are gradually coming out of it, according to what we have been told, I know that Nigerians will be happy again.
So, Nigerians should commend the administration?
I am a prophet of God, and my job is to pray and give spiritual guidance. However, from what I have seen so far, I believe that Nigerians will praise President Muhammadu Buhari for taking some of the steps he took before now. The results are beginning to come out in a way or two, but it will take time. Nigerians should continue to pray for the president, and by doing so, he would be strong enough to fulfil the promises he made. The fact is that no one at the top is a saint, but God knows how to use the few good ones among them to bring about positive results. I strongly believe that Nigerians would come out of this economic turmoil a better people.
What are your recommendations for making things better in the country?
God is very concerned about the situation of this country and He’s making us go through this difficult time to bring out the best in us. As a prophet of God, I can tell you that Nigerians will begin to see the hand of God in the affairs of this country any moment from now. We can’t neglect God as a nation and believe that we will emerge victorious. The way out is for us to pray to God to give our leaders insight into how to make policies that would better the lives of the citizens.
Do you believe that Nigerians are religious?
Being religious is not enough. God looks at the hearts of men, not the deeds of men. Nigerians should get serious about their relationship with God. That we are in this condition is a reflection of the kind of people we are and the level of our relationship with God.
The polity is beginning to heat up in preparation for the 2019 elections. What has God told you about the elections?
Some politicians, who have no interest of the people at heart, would be flushed out in an unprecedented manner. God told me that most of those who plan to inflict more hardship on the people directly or otherwise will be embarrassed. Those who want to serve the people genuinely should also be very careful, because some bad people in government will try to derail their good plans for the people. Nigeria is on her way to greatness. This government will deliver on its promises and the people will be happy again.
Many church leaders have raised concerns about the poor condition of the economy, which they claim has affected attendance and even offerings. How are you coping?
My ministry is like Goshen in Egypt. We thank God for being good to us during this challenging period. We can’t say that we have not had our low moments and we still do, but God has been kind to us. God has His way of taking care of His people, no matter the condition. I don’t belong to the class of people who constantly complain about a situation; I am of the opinion that one should use every bad situation to his advantage. Prayer is the key. People should learn how to pray their way out of troubling moments. To the glory of God, we have been fine in recession. We have been sustaining the church, because the Bible states: ‘they that they that trust in the Lord shall be as Mount Zion, which cannot be removed but abide forever.’
