Assault: Senate President, Lawan, Ngigie, Others Visit Ekweremadu (Photos)

President of the Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan, on Monday, paid a visit to Senator Ike Ekweremadu at his Abuja residence, Igbere TV reports.

The visit comes after Senator Ekweremadu returned to the country from Germany, and barely 48 hours after an assault on him.

Igbere TV had reported that Ekweremadu was physically assaulted in Germany, on Saturday, by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The former Deputy Senate President was invited as a guest speaker at the 2nd Annual Igbo Cultural Festival in Nuremberg, when the assault took place.

Other dignitaries who visited the lawmaker include Senator Chris Ngige, Hon. Nnoli Nnaji, Hon. Kingsley Ebenyi, Senator Gil Nnaji, among others.

Meanwhile, Igbere TV had reported that Senator Ike Ekweremadu said he has forgiven his attackers and would not be seeking their punishment.

Speaking to journalists at the Abuja Airport, on Monday, the Senator said the attack was not a representation of the character of Nigerians both at home and abroad.

He said the attack was carried out by people he described as “miscreants under the influence of alcohol and hard drugs.”

Ekweremadu, therefore, advised Nigerians and Igbo leaders to feel free to travel to any part of the world they wish, reiterating that he has since put the issue behind him.
