Shiites: El-Zakzaky Laments In India, Wants To Be Flown Back To Nigeria

Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, leader of the proscribed Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), better known as Shiites, has said that the situation at the Indian hospital he was taken to is “worse” than that of Nigeria, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that the cleric made the allegations in an audio clip that has since gone viral on social media, where he described the situation was “worrisome” and “pathetic”.

El-zakzaky and wife, Zeenat were flown to India on Monday following a Kaduna State Court ruling last week.

But in the audio Igbere TV came across on Wednesday, the IMN leader accused the Nigerian government of “frustrating” his medical treatment in India.

Translated to English from Hausa, El-Zakzaky said the management of the hospital had been threatened not to admit him for “special treatment.”

He also alleged that the doctors he earlier made “arrangement” with have been changed to a new set on the orders of the Nigerian government.

Speaking further, the Islamic cleric said he and his wife were currently under tight security than what they witnessed in Nigeria, describing it as a “prison setting”.

An official of the IMN who confirmed the authenticity of the audio, said El-Zakzaky and wife may soon return to Nigeria “over a change in the medical arrangement with doctors in India.”
