The police in Akwa Ibom State, has arrested one Mr. Dignity Lazarus, a pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, for allegedly defrauding over 300 persons in the state, Igbere TV reports.
Igbere TV gathered that the suspect, who was arrested Friday, is said to have deceived his victims that he is the Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Employment Matters.
Investigation by Igbere TV showed that Lazarus uses Emerald Lounge, a popular hotel in the state, as his meeting point to defraud his unsuspecting victims.
Already, over 100 persons have been issued fake employment letters, with over 200 billed to receive their letters on Monday.
Lazarus is said to have fraudulently obtained from his victims between N100,000 to N250,000 to help them secure a job with Ibom Air.
However, luck ran out of the fraudster when he attempted to dupe a journalist in the state.
Upon sighting the fake Ibom Air employment form, the journalist swiftly alerted the relevant authorities and this led to his immediate arrest.
Items recovered from the suspect and sighted by Igbere TV, include duly completed application forms, Ibom Air employment letters, several passport photographs, laptop, mobile phones, several signed recommendation letters from the Office of the Governor and two Android devices.
“The suspect is providing the police with useful information which will help in unraveling the antics of fraudsters in the state”, a police source in Akwa Ibom, told Igbere TV.
