Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, leader of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), better known as Shiites, will depart Nigeria today for medical treatment abroad, Igbere TV has learnt.
Igbere TV recalls that a Kaduna High Court had last week granted the embattled cleric and wife, Zeenat, leave to travel to India for medical attention.
The couple, who have been in detention for years, are billed to arrive the Medenta Hospital, New Delhi, for the medical treatment.
Igbere TV gathered from a Kaduna State government official that their flight through the International Wing of the Abuja airport is at noon.
“They are already in Abuja and waiting to be flown to India along with DSS personnel by a privately chartered aircraft”, the source said.
