The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested two persons close to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last presidential election, Atiku Abubakar.
Igbere TV learned that Uyi Giwa Osagie, Atiku’s legal Adviser and Abdullahi Babalele, son in-law to the former vice-president, were taken into custody on Thursday evening.
Multiple sources familiar with the development also confirmed the report Friday afternoon.
Former aide to President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, also confirmed the development in a tweet sighted by Igbere TV.
“BREAKING: @OfficialEFCC has arrested @Atiku’s lawyer (Uyi Giwa-Osagie) and his son-in-law (Abdullahi). They plan to charge them to court after the holiday because General @MBuhari is very angry that Atiku is acting “presidentially” and wants to use his people to teach him a lesson.
“They were reportedly arrested after honouring an EFCC invitation in Lagos”, he wrote.
