BREAKING: Senate Names 69 Standing Committees’ Chairmen

The Senate on Tuesday announced the composition of its standing committees and subsequently adjourned plenary to Sept. 24th, Igbere TV reports.

This comes just as the Red Chamber concluded the screening of the Ministerial nominees sent to it by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Igbere TV reports that President Buhari had submitted a list of 43 ministerial nominees, which was read at the Senate plenary last Tuesday.

Our National Assembly correspondent reports that Senator Barau Jibrin was named Chairman, Appropriations Committee, Dino Melaye (Aviation), Ibikunle Amosun (Capital Market), Ike Ekweremadu (Environment), while Ali Ndume emerged Chairman, Senate Committee on Army.

Others are Senator Bassey Akpan (Petroleum Resources upstream), Abubakar Kyari (FCT), Adeola Olamilekan (Finance), Ibrahim Oloriegbe (Health), Sikiru Oshinowo (Industry), Kashim Shettima (Interior), Teslim Folarin (Local content), Dauda Jika (Police), Aliyu Magatakarda (Defence), Peter Nwabaoshi (NDDC), Abdullahi Adamu (Agriculture) and Kabiru Gaya (INEC)

While Senator Adedayo Adeyeye was named Chairman, Media and Public Affairs Committee, Mathew Urhoghide from Edo State emerged Chairman, Public Accounts, a committee reserved strictly for the opposition.
