On Tuesday, September 13, popular fuji artist, Remi Aluko, who recently lost his sight, was at Akute, a border town between Lagos and Ogun states, where he went to perform.
It was the second day of Eid-Filtri and Aluko was contracted to sing at a popular hotel in the area called Cloud 9. NAIJ.com gathered that during the show one of the guests, simply known as Hope, died.
Hope, who was alleged to belong to the Eiye confraternity, was reportedly beaten with juju by boys from a rival cult group and died soon after.
The fuji star, Aluko was also not spared despite his disability. He was allegedly wounded on the head with broken bottle.
Aluko, popularly known as Igwe 1, was a leading fuji artist before he went blind.
He was reportedly taken in to police custody over the theft of a Blackberry phone and in the cause of interrogation tear gas was used on him and this eventually led to his blindness. Igwe 1 later claimed that the said phone was given to him by a fan who came to his show.
His storyhas been made into a movie.
