Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, former Abia State governor and Chief Whip of the Senate, on Thursday received a rousing ovation from the students of the University of Abuja, Igbere TV reports.
Igbere TV reports that the ovation came on the heels of his unequivocal expression on the state of infrastructures and environment in University which he described as pathetic.
Senator Kalu’s assertion jolted the hearts of thousands of students gathered in the University’s hall as they chanted in joy singing “You are a Leader !!! .
The students hailed the Senate Chief whip’s speech which they described as one that spoke their minds concerning the state of the Nation’s capital institution .
The Senate Chief Whip, promised to mobilise legislative support for the school ahead of 2020 budget. He also asked the school management to liaise with the National Universities Commission (NUC) in that regard.
Kalu spoke at the university permanent site in Abuja, to mark the 2019 International Mandela Day.
