Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has finally honoured Miss Ochanya Ogbanje who was raped to death by her sister’s husband, Igbere TV reports.
Igbere TV reports that Ortom has contracted for total rehabilitation of LGEA Primary School, Amejo, Okpokwu Local Government Area in honour of Ochanya.
Ortom made this known on Friday when he defied the rains to visit the community to commiserate with the people over the sad incidence.
Governor Ortom who said the rehabilitation of the school was to ensure that the children in the community have a good school to attend directed that more teachers should be employed for the school.
He also noted that a lawyer from the state ministry of Justice has been detailed to ensure that justice was served in the Ochanya Ogbanje’s rape case to serve as a warning to others that his administration does not tolerate such acts.
The leader of the community, Mr. Ejembi Aba thanked Governor Ortom for honouring Ochanya by renovating the school and naming it after her as well as ensuring that her rapist is given due punishment.
The Governor later visited LGEA Primary School, Aukpe where he inspected ongoing construction of two classroom blocks and assured that the dilapidated blocks would be renovated.
