BREAKING!!! NNPC GMD, Baru Retires At 60

Dr. Maikanti Baru, has retired from the services of the Nigerian National Petroleum Commission (NNPC), Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that Dr. Baru clocked the statutory age of 60, July 7.

He was the 18th Group Managing Director (GMD) of the NNPC until his retirement.

Taking to Twitter to announce his retirement from active service, the former NNPC GMD wrote;

“Today, having clocked the statutory age of 60, I have retired from the services of @NNPCgroup. I wish the new GMD Mallam @MKKyari and his team success. Thank you President @MBuhari for the opportunity to serve.

“Long live @NNPCgroup
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Similarly, the NNPC via its Twitter handle @NNPCgroup, tweeted;

“Following the statutory retirement, today, of @DrMKBaru as the 18th GMD of @NNPCgroup, the Corporation will tomorrow at the #NNPC Towers, hold a Valedictory Session in his honour. The Session will also see Mallam @MKKyari officially taking over as the 19th GMD of @NNPCgroup.”

Igbere TV reports that President Muhammadu Buhari had on June 20, announced the appointment of Mele Kyari as the new GMD of the NNPC.

Kyari is scheduled to assume duty today, July 8, following Baru’s retirement from service, July 7.
