JUST IN!!! We Can’t Disclose Details Of Buhari’s Assets - CCB

The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has said it cannot disclose the details of President Muhammadu Buhari’s assets to the public, Igbere TV reports.

This was in response to a request by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), seeking a disclosure of assets declaration submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari in May.

Igbere TV recalls that President Buhari on Monday, May 27 received an asset declaration form from the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), two days before his inauguration for a second term.

The form was presented to the president inside the Presidential Villa in Abuja by the Chairman of the CCB, Professor Muhammad Isa, who visited the State House in company of other leaders of the CCB.

But the CCB said the information requested by SERAP cannot be provided on the grounds of ‘invasion of privacy’.

In a letter signed by Mr. Musa Usman, on behalf of CCB chairman, he said the request “falls short of the requirement of the law”.

The letter sighted by Igbere TV said only the National Assembly can prescribe conditions for the release of the forms, but such conditions are yet to be prescribed.

Reacting, however, SERAP in a statement sent to Igbere TV by its Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, said the group will challenge the decision of the CCB at the court, adding that “declaration forms are public information, and not private information”.
