Wase emerged a few minutes after the landslide victory of Femi Gbajabiamila as speaker.
The duo ran on a joint ticket following Wase’s decision to step down for Gbajabiamila.
Senators Ahmed Lawan and Ovie Omo-Agege were earlier elected as president and deputy Senate president respectively.
