A picture of former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe and his wife Grace, purported to have been taken just before he signed his resignation letter on Tuesday – has gone viral on social media.
The picture shows Mugabe, 93, and Grace with the veteran leader’s “friends”, including the country’s former reserve bank governor Gideon Gono.
A government source claimed Mugabe, 93, said he wanted to die in Zimbabwe and had no plans to live in exile, so negotiated a deal which included a pension, holiday and transport allowance, health insurance and security.
According to social media users, Grace looks “humbled”.
