The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Anyim Pius Anyim.
Punch reports that the agency however, seized Anyim’s passport before he was allowed to leave on Tuesday.
The former SGF was also instructed to report to the commission every two weeks and also return some of the money traced to him.
“Anyim was released on administrative bail after he had surrendered his passport. He is expected to return some money to the EFCC and also report back every two weeks,” a source at the EFCC said.
The EFCC had arrested Anyim over alleged contract fraud and false assets declaration.
The agency later ordered him to return N520m he allegedly collected from former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki or face prosecution.
In a bid to continue detaining Anyim, the EFCC was said to have obtained an extended warrant to detain the former SGF for 30 days.
