Gov.Ambode’s Convoy Fights Robbers On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
Several motorists were saved by the convoy of Governor Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos state on Thursday, September 1.
It was reported that armed robbers struck at the popular Long Bridge on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at about 8pm but they were prevented from robbing motorists as Ambode’s convoy was close to the scene at the moment. READ ALSO: Governor Ambode inaugurates special committee in Lagos The robbers dressed in police uniform were said to have blocked the expressway forcing motorists to a halt in an attempt to carry out their act.
The governor’s convoy saved the day as they engaged the robbers in gun battle. A source at the governor’s office confirmed the incident, saying the convoy was returning from Osun state where Ambode had attended the president’s visit where he participated in the activities marking the 25th anniversary of the creation of the state. Governor Ambode is committed to securing lives and properties in Lagos state. The Lagos government is making moves to install 13,000 Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras across the state, as well as 6,000 streetlights security sensors to ensure surveillance and reduce crime.
