Anambra Election: Obaze, Ezeemo reject result

The duo of Mr Oseloka Obaze and Godwin Ezeemo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the Peoples Progressives Alliance, PPA, respectively, have rejected the result of Saturday’s governorship election as announced by the INEC.

They said it was fraught will malpractice and was not a true reflection of voting.

Both men did not, however, state if they would contest it.

Obaze in a press statement said, “The Anambra State governorship election results just released by INEC, does not reflect the realities of the votes cast on 18 November by the Anambra electorate.

“The over voting and inconsistencies between the counted ballots and card reader data remains exceedingly worrisome.

“The uniformity of the incumbent governor wining twenty-one local governments is a political aberration in the context of Anambra politics.

“The election results as reported, shows that nothing matters to the Anambra electorate. The people have spoken. They have taken a cursory long term view of what they wish for Anambra State.”

On his part, Ezeemo said he was not comfortable with the outcome of the just concluded gubernatorial election exercise, while insisting that he and his team were still studying the documents on their table and will make a categorical statement after they were done and had come to a conclusion.

Speaking to the press at his business park in Umuchu, just as the final result of the election was being announced, Ezeemo said, “I will not give any reaction to what is going on at the moment. I have to look at what I have on my table with my team to decide what will happen. This is based on the fact that a lot of things went wrong all over the state.”
