Barcelona ace, Lionel Messi has reacted to Juventus and Cristiano Ronaldo’s elimination from the champions league.
Messi scored twice in the first half as Barca saw off Manchester United in the other game of the night.
Messi and Ronaldo are still by far the two best players in the world with five Ballon d’Or wins apiece.
While reacting to Ronaldo’s exit from the competition, Daily Star quoted the Argentine star as saying that teams at this stage of the competition are “complicated” to play against.
When told that Juventus had been knocked out by Ajax, Messi replied, “That tells you everything, any team is complicated, be it Liverpool or Porto, there are those who deserve, the best, and everything is going to be complicated.”
Former Real Madrid star, Ronaldo was aiming to win his fourth consecutive Champions League title.
Messi and Barcelona though are still on for another treble after seemingly having already sewn up the La Liga title and with a Copa del Rey final against Valencia to play.
Next up for Barca in the Champions League is the winners of Liverpool and Porto who play their second leg on Wednesday (today).
Asked about Barcelona’s chances of winning the treble, Messi was in no mood to get too carried away.
“We took a step more, now we have to think about La Liga and be champions as soon as possible, then we will prepare the games that follow as they should,” he added.
Another Champions League win for Messi would be his fifth with Barcelona, which would put him level with Cristiano Ronaldo.
