Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has described women as heroines of peace and pillars of the home.
Igbere TV reports that Ikpeazu stated this in a message to Abia mothers while felicitating with them on the occasion of Mothers’ Day.
The Governor extolled the virtues of Abia mothers attributing the relative peace experienced in Abia to the important roles played by mothers in their respective homes, particularly in the upbringing of their children which has had a wholesome effect on their lives.
He added that every peaceful society stems from the love and care of mothers.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Enyinnaya Appolos, and made available to Igbere TV, Ikpeazu said, “I hold Abia mothers in high esteem because of their immense contributions to the growth and development of our dear state.
“Their prayers, advice, love and support from the home front account for the peace we enjoy in Abia today. Mothers are heroines of peace and pillars of the home.
“That Abia ranks top in the list of safest states in Nigeria today is attributsble to the commitment of our mothers in sowing the right seeds in their children/wards. This is why I choose to describe them as the heroines of peace.
“On behalf of the government and Ndi Abia, I wish our mothers beautiful celebrations even as I pray for more good health, knowledge and wisdom upon them as they continue to impact our lives positively,” the statement concluded.
