Kalu in the Senate a Plus for Ndigbo – Iko

Chief Ndukwe Iko, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives (APC), in Abia state has stated that the election of Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, the former governor of the state, into the Nigerian Senate will amplify the voice of the Igbo Nation in the Nigeria project, Igbere Tv reports.

Chief Iko disclosed this recently in an interview with Igbere Tv newsmen in Abia State.

“The struggle to elect Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu into the senate started on the platform of PPA in 2011,” he said.

He added that Kalu has a large range of connection within and outside Nigeria.

“We started this struggle since 2011 with the Progressives Peoples Alliance. We couldn’t have been persistently struggling for Kalu to go to the senate without a reason.

“We knew from the beginning that if Kalu goes to the senate, Igbos will have stronger voice. There is no politician in Nigeria today, East, West, North and South that can muster the same political clout in terms of connection both within and outside Nigeria like Kalu and that is Why we are so proud of him and want him to be there. It will even be for the benefit of Nigeria because in business, political world, he will be there for you” he said.

He described the just concluded gubernatorial election in the state as okay, saying there were no major issues.

“From my standpoint and my location, it was okay even though we had some hitches because everybody was struggling to make sure they delivered their community and wards.

“In Ohafia Local Government, there was no major issue apart from the usual Nkporo issue. Nkporo is a small Community in Ohafia, comprising of about eight smaller villages. Mysteriously, in previous election, they have been turning out huge votes even more than bigger communities, causing concern” he concluded.
