Police Officers on election duty in Kano on Saturday arrested the State Commissioner for Special Duties, Muktar Yakasai, Igbere TV reports.
Igbere TV gathered that Yakasai allegedly led some political thugs to disrupt the ongoing re-run election in the state.
The incident, Igbere TV learnt, took place at Yelwa Secondary School in Dala Local Government Area of Kano state.
Sources told Igbere TV that Yakasai was arrested alongside some of the thugs he came to the venue with.
Another eyewitness said violence has broken out in Gama ward and the police were forced to fire tear gas to disperse youth who were becoming agitated.
Igbere TV had earlier reported that journalists were chased away by thugs from the area with two reportedly injured.
