A pregnant woman, Nwazuru Okeke and her two children, Chidiebere and Makuochukwu, aged two and one year old respectively have been burnt beyond recognition in a fire outbreak that occurred inside their home in Umuoffor village Okija, Ihiala local government area of Anambra state on Tuesday March 19th, Igbere Tv reports.
Mr. Haruna Mohammed, the Anambra state police command spokesperson, who confirmed the incident, said the deceased were burnt beyond recognition and that there was no way for residents in the area to rescue them on time.
He said; “There was a fire incident at Umuoffor village Okija at the residence of one Maxwell Okeke. As a result, his pregnant wife named Nwazuru Okeke ‘f’, two children, namely Chidi Ebube Okeke aged two years and Makuo Chukwu Okeke ‘m’ aged one year were trapped in the inferno and burnt beyond recognition.”
According to him, the fire was put off following the arrival of police detectives attached to Okija Division to the scene with the assistance of local volunteers in the area.
As at the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire is yet unknown.
