Plans are on ground for the newly elected Senator of Anambra South senatorial district, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah to dump the Young Progressive Party (YPP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Igbere TV reports.
Igbere TV reports that YPP’s Ubah had defeated the incumbent Senator of the zone and APGA’s candidate, Andy Ubah to emerge victoriously.
According to a source close to the Capital Oil magnate, President Muhammadu Buhari had personally called Ubah to decamp to the APC.
The source who doesn’t want his name mentioned, further alleged that Ubah has been handed down a first assignment by Buhari, which according to him, is to deliver the APC guber candidate in Lagos State, Sanwo-Olu, who is currently having a problem with the Igbo voters in Lagos.
“To be able to get Igbo voters to vote the Lagos APC candidate, Ifeanyi Ubah has been conscripted to revive his Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, TAN, to use it to rally the Igbos based in Lagos,” the source said.
Meanwhile, Igbere TV on Tuesday, gathered that Ubah has already completed the processes of joining the APC, ahead of the 9th Assembly resumption in June.
In a press statement on Monday (yesterday) by the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, TAN, which was personally signed by Ifeanyi Ubah, he was quoted as saying, “The Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) hereby endorses the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the Lagos State Gubernatorial elections slated for Saturday, 9th of March, 2019”.
Ifeanyi Ubah, as understood, will relocate to Lagos to rally round the Igbo voters to vote massively for Sanwo-Olu as against the PDP candidate, Jimi Agbaje.
The source also confirmed that Ubah will decamp to APC alongside his political son, Dr. Obinna Ngonadi, who is the YPP candidate for Anambra State House of Assembly, Nnewi North Constituency.
“The Igbos, specifically his Nnewi South constituency, will wonder how Ifeanyi Ubah will sell the APC narrative to them, knowing fully well the disdain and hatred the people have for Buhari and APC.
“Governor Obiano has of late, been suffering hatred among some Anambrarians just because he supported Buhari and APC against Peter Obi,” the source further added.
