President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has defeated his main challenger, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the presidential election in Lagos state with a margin of 132,798 votes, Igberetvnews reports.
In 2015, Buhari defeated former president, Goodluck Jonathan in the state with a higher margin of 160,143 votes, after he polled 792,460 votes against Jonathan’s 632,327 votes.
In the latest results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Yaba, Lagos, on Monday afternoon, Buhari polled 580,814 votes to beat Atiku, who got 448,016 votes.
While Buhari won in 15 local government areas of Lagos, Atiku won in five councils, heavily populated by south-east residents.
