An INEC office in Imo state has been set ablaze by hoodlums, Igbere TV reports.
This was as the Commission in the early hours of today, declared Gov. Rochas Okorocha as Senator-elect for the Orlu East Senatorial district.
An official of INEC, Emmanuella Opara, while confirming the attack to Igbere TV said, “Our office at Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo state was razed down by fire by unknown persons in the early hours of today.”
Emmanuella stressed that the commission is yet to visit the office to ascertain the level of damage.
Igbere TV reports that there was tension at a Senatorial result collation centre in Orlu in the early hours of Monday (today).
Witnesses told Igbere TV that police officers had to us teargas to disperse a disparaged mob.
The people were said to have been angered by the announcement by the returning officer.
